Our Team

I'm one of the founders of IronGate. Building it as an independent practice was a deliberate choice: it lets us shape recommendations around what a client is actually trying to do, instead of around a product lineup.

My work is with individuals and families, and it starts with the plan — what you're trying to accomplish, what it costs, and what has to happen between now and then. My background covers just about every part of financial advising, which means I can look at the whole picture with you rather than one slice of it.

But a plan on paper isn't worth much without the right people around it. So I also build the team — connecting clients with CPAs and estate planning attorneys, and making sure all of us are working from the same version of your situation instead of three different ones.

The work I find most rewarding is with pre-retirees. The years right before you stop working are when the decisions get real and the margin for error narrows. That's exactly when a detailed, personalized plan earns its keep.

I'm a University of Iowa graduate, with a bachelor's in finance from the Tippie College of Business, and I played baseball for the Hawkeyes. College athletics teaches you two things that turn out to matter in this business: how to do unglamorous work when nobody's watching, and how to build relationships that hold up under pressure.
